With Pedro and Chris On this Episode... Benfica opens up the season against Braga and once again can't get the win on the first game of the season, 8 years now without a win in the first fixture. We take an in depth look at the game and how JJ set up the team. Surprisingly enough(or maybe not) the formula that had been used with a good degree of success during the pre-season was put aside to give way to a less used formation. Enzo and Martins who had shown themselves at a good level in the pre-season were left out in favor of Salvio and Rodrigo, two players with no minutes in the pre-season. New Season, same old JJ, as the blame for this tie has to fall squarely on his shoulders. Not even Melgarejo, who was directly involved with the two goals allowed can be blamed for this. The left back saga continues, Rui Costa was in Malaga to negotiate Eliseu, but came back empty handed. Benfica much rather have Juve's Ziegler on loan with option than to spen 3 million on a left back we so desperately need.
