In an interview to Sambafoot.com, Ramires stated that his intentions are to have a good season for Benfica to then make the jump to a bigger European club.
While i have no problem with a player with ambitions, I feel that comments like this are disrespectful to the club.
The mentality however, is right in line with what young South American players think. DiMaria has had similar comments and so has David Luiz, however, neither of them have yet proved they deserve to play in the Barclay's Premiere or La Liga.
I think Ramires should have a lot more respect for a team that has just paid 7 million for him. After he has realized that, he should also realize that there's a long arduous season ahead, and that fans will ask a lot from a man who was one of the most expensive signings in the history of the club.
I hope he turns out to be a great player and can help Benfica win a championship, but if he thinks he can just show up, and take advantage of a league that is mistakenly viewed as a weak league, then he has another thing coming.

Such a telling quote on the state of Portuguese soccer. It's saddens me that these borderline South American players use Portugal as a platform for their careers. Thankfully, not many of them make the jump.
