Where you At?

In a time where there are a lot of doubts about the competence of the man in front of this team, and whether or not he should continue, I'd like to come forward and profess all of my support to Quique and this team.

Yes, there were some mistakes made, and some bad decisions, but the biggest mistake and worst decision will be sacking Quique. Without continuity, there will be no identity. This team is very far from having an identity of their own, or even their own style of play, but regardless of a lack of any significant changes being shown after 9 months, We should be behind the team and the structure that was put together by Rui Costa. Rome wasn't built in a day, neither will a good solid championship team.

The constant revolving door of players and coaches has hurt the team more than anything else. You can't buy championships, by fielding 11 "galacticos", or even above average players(in this instance), and hope the results will just fall on your lap. Team chemistry has a lot to do with it.
The club made a significant investment on the team, and the returns have been minimal to this point. But after a full season with the team, it makes no sense to start over.

When the whistle is blown to end the last game of the season, Quique and his technical staff will have to sit down and do an in depth analysis of the team and its personnel. The real test will come next season, when he would have had time to get to know the players and make his tweaks, to make the team better than what it is now.
To judge Quique for what he is done so far, is a bit unfair, even though i feel that after 9 months of daily training sessions, the team should at least be playing a more attractive style of soccer.

A new club, a new league, with its own style, and a new set of players should be enough to make the more comprehensive, and logical fans realize that the odds were, and are, less favorable for Benfica. You can argue the point that with players like Aimar, Suazo, Reyes, Benfica should have been enough for the team to dominate, but it's not.
In my opinion Aimar as yet to find his comfort position, the position where he can be the most productive to the team, part of that has to do with Quique's system also. Reyes has been one of our most influential players, but one man alone can't be the key to every offensive problem. Benfica's game has become too predictable because the majority of Benfica's incursions into the attacking third seem to go through Reyes, turning the team one dimensional. Suazo is a very good players but the fact that Benfica didn't have a "playmaker" really hurt his chances and his productivity.

Let's give the man sometime to work, this season is not over yet, let's back up and let things run their course. The 3 year project Rui Costa laid down, is a project that has at least 1 championship within its objectives.
There's always going to be fans that want change and results now, and if this coach is no good, then bring another one, but it's been that same irrationality that has hurt Benfica, over the years.

My support continues to remain behind Quique, the team, and Rui Costa's project.
I'll be let down if we don't win the championship, but realistically there's a certain logic behind it.
