According to several media outlets, Cardozo has been separated from the group by Quique, pending an internal resolution. Cardozo did not practice today, and from what the media is reporting, it's due to his behavior during Saturday's training session. Officially, Benfica has told the media that Cardozo did not train due to internal reasons.
Cardozo has been going through a rough period in his national team, where his lack of goal production has been criticized by the fans, and media alike. If the reports are confirmed, the Paraguayan international will now have a major problem on his hands.
While at Benfica he could find a safe haven from his home country's criticism, he now sees himself in a difficult position, where he can face disciplinary action by the club and most likely bench time.
Cardozo is currently serving a two match ban in European play, and will not be able to give his contribute to Benfica during the Napoli clashes. With a new forward line up most likely making its debut this Thursday, it's very possible that Quique will keep that forward line up when Benfica re-start their domestic campaign, leaving Cardozo on the bench.
It's a well known fact that Benfica's forward sector is very competitive. If these reports are true, Cardozo can see himself at a disadvantage with the other forwards, especially when Quique's system is based on 1 true forward.
