In an official statement on their website, Benfica announced that Cristian Rodriguez will not be a Benfica player next year.
Here's the official statement translated:

It was always Benfica and Benfica's SAD's intention to renew Cristian Rodriguez's contract, in conditions that were favorable for both parts, that wasn't possible.

The mixed and contradictory signals that were given by the player and his representatives, along with the excessive demands, prompted Benfica and Benfica SAD to conclude all negotiations with the player.

Cristian Rodriguez will not be a Benfica player.

Despite being a fan of Rodriguez and his tyle and personality on the field, his personality off the field leaves much to be desired. Sure he would have been a keeper for next season, but the reported 125k per month he was requesting seems a bit much.
To top it all off, reports from today's "O Jogo" place the Uruguyan at the corrupt club from up north(the blue one). He had already hinted to his openness to go up north, it's nothing new.
