Cape Verde Trip

Benfica will travel to Cape Verde today, where they will play an exhibition match against San Vincente e Sal select team. The game will take place tomorrow, 5/16.
The following players will be making the trip:

Keepers: Butt and Moreira;
Defenders: Pedro Correia, Edcarlos, Nelson, Léo e Sepsi.
Midfielders: Fellipe Bastos, Binya, Maxi Pereira, Nuno Assis, Di María, Freddy Adu, Rodriguez and Fábio Coentrão.
Forwards: Yu Dabao, Cardozo, Mantorras and Makukula.

19 players in all, but Chalana will probably add one more to the lot.

Quim, Nuno Gomes as well as Petit will be left behind as they will have to report to National team Camp on the 19th. Also integrating their national teams are Zoro and Katsouranis, which explains why they have been absent from training.

In the defensive group, Pedro Correia is the new face, Correia was on loan at Portimonense. In Midfield, Adu will make the trip and possibly have some playing time. Coentrao who had an excellent end of year, will also be part of the team. Fellipe Basto's, who up until this time, has been unable to play with the senior squad, will finally get to play with the senior squad.
Dabao, who had returned to the team this week from loan, is the only fresh face in the forwards group.
The 20th player will most likely be Wagner, a junior central defender.

This trip is in addition to the Angola trip the team will be making on Monday, the 19th.

****EDIT***

Luisao was excused from the trip as his wife is pregnant. Nelson who will not be able to play will still be part of the roster as Cape Verde is his home country.

At least Freddy Adu was called. Something that wasn't done since he got back from the U.S. team, not even on the bench. Again, at least he was called. As for playing, no one knows but hey... it's better than it was because... (sorry) at least he was called!

Does anyone know if this is going to have a tv broadcast? Live or not?

FUMAS,

I suggest that you post about the risk of FCPorto being banned (corruption) of CL 2008/2009.

I'm 100% sure that this will be a fact.

Benfica will go to the third pre-el.

I wrote about it briefly in this post
http://talkingtothedoll.blogspot.com/2008/05/benfica-news-may-14th-2008.html

According to the little news that is trickling down, Uefa is already aware of the situation, and will make a decision in the beginning of June.
The Uefa rule is very clear, but with a loophole, if you will. The law applies only if the infraction was committed during the year in which the guilty team earned access to the CL. Being that the infractions go back a few years, it might be a tricky situation. I thought it was an unfair punishment for Porto, being that, they had already won the league with a 20 point cushion. The right decision would have been to apply the -6 points to next season. I have a lot more faith on UEFA then what i have in the Portuguese disciplinary committee, we shall see what happens. Right now it can go either way, but if anyone is to lay down the law is UEFA.

Then, i kind of have mixed feelings about it, although i'd like to see Benfica in the CL, they didn't do the required to be there, and receiving that "gift" would be unworthy of Benfica.

What do you think?

Fumas,

I think Porto, to be honest, should had dropped to 2º division.

But the regulaments in Portugal were done by people (namely José Guilherme Aguiar) to protect corruptors.

The question isn't what Benfica deserves but what Porto deserves??

I hope you agree with my point of view.
