After Thoughts - Benfica v Leixoes

It is time for some serious questions.

Didn't Fernando Santos get sacked after a draw with Leixoes?

This is the first thought that came to mind after I watched a dismal effort from the team. Taking nothing away from the opposition, unlike our squad, they came out to play. I'm losing faith in Camacho's ability to put a winning side on the pitch. One week they come out and look in excellent form, the next its a draw or a loss. In my last post I said that if Camacho did not change his formation, all will be lost this season. His formation changed this week, but to an ineffective 4-3-3, and this tells me two things:
1) Camacho does not have the insight to see that his club is currently built for the 4-4-2.
2) All will be lost this season.

What Benfica can do to fix this team?

I'm starting to shift from popular belief that we need new signings to start winning. We see that Cardozo can perform when paired with a 9/9.5 and we know the kind of effort Nuno Gomes brings to the table. Freddy Adu? it should be illegal the little playing time he gets, Di Maria has played well so far and Mantorras can be counted on for a golo now and again. New signings do not mean we will start winning because it comes down to one thing; how you use the personell you have. It is a very basic principle that is practiced not just in futebol, but also in business. You can have a great player, but if you utilize that player incorrectly, whats the point of signing him? A good manager knows how to use the strengths of his people for the benefit of the team.

So I pose one question to you fellow benfiquistas:

Should Jose Antonio Camacho get sacked after a draw with Leixoes?

Currently there's absolutely no one that can carry Benfica, except Rui Costa, for 60 minutes. We need signings KingAl, we need someone who can make a significant impact. We need fresh blood.

You know by now what I think about hiring/sacking managers. I would find one that I believe in and stick by him through thick and thin.

I haven't been impressed by Camacho so far. Maybe he can make a great signing that may change my mind. And speaking of signings.

Selling Souza was a mistake. Benfica needs to show their authority. I don't care what he said about coming to Benfica. He needed to uphold the commitment he made when he signed with Benfica. Should have gone to Brazil, talked to that jerk's agent, come to an agreement on a pay raise and get him to Lisbon.

It's not hard to see Benfica's strategy in building the club right now. They're taking chances on young players. Hoping they can blossom into to great players. They're playing moneyball because they always have an eye towards the clubs debt and it is so frustrating for fans right now.

And yes, I believe we do need some new signings! Quality first team players, too.
